Nicky Spurgeon is an experienced con artist who takes a talented but inexperienced woman named Jess Barrett under his wing and teaches her how professional scams work. The two become romantically involved, but Nicky eventually walks away because he believes emotions make criminals vulnerable. Three years later, they unexpectedly meet again during a dangerous scheme, forcing Nicky to decide whether he can trust Jess when deception is part of both of their lives.
